DVD Description
C.S. Lewis’ timeless adventure The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe follows the exploits of the Pevensie siblings — Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter — in World War II England, as the four enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of hide-and-seek in the rural country home of an elderly professor. Once there, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants, but this world has become cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a noble and mystical ruler, the lion Aslan, the children fight to overcome the White Witch’s powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from Jadis’ icy spell forever.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe marks the first live-action directorial effort from New Zealander Andrew Adamson (of the Oscar-winning Shrek and Shrek 2), and stars Tilda Swinton as the White Witch. The film also features the voices of Rupert Everett, Dawn French, Ray Winstone, and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Very enjoyable
This is a really lovely film- very watchable, great acting, good message. As a family film I prefer it to Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter etc by a mile- the main reason because it just leaves a really nice taste in the mouth at the end. Oh the kids loved it too….

An Excellent Adaptation
There have been critics of this movie, and to a certain extent they have a point - The large battle scenes will never rival those of the Lord of the Rings, however, this movie was aimed at a younger audience as were the excellent books. When viewed in context, this movie hits the spot. From the first moment the Pevensie children set foot in the land of Narnia through to their return through the wardrobe this movie delivers an exciting and magical adventure.

The movie started in an inspired way with the Luftwaffe air raid over London introducing the audience to the reason why Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were staying with Professor Kirke in the first place, and then rolled on with a consistent and easy flow. The locations were magnificent, and the use of animatronics amazing - as were the CGI and CGI augmented creatures! A particularly nice touch was the way that Mr Tumnus shook away the snow from his hooves by stamping on the mat - his ‘backwards’ goat legs really looked the part. The witch was not as frightening as she could have been, but had I been six years old I’d have been terrified. Aslan was surprisingly lion like but managed to convey the majesty of the king.

I liked this movie and I look forward to the coming of “Prince Caspian” in 2008.

A great external Hard Disk
A superb external HDD, the USB2 connection ensures a good transfer rate with high reliability. The Supplied MIO software is unfortunately absolutely appalling and only a trial version at that, do not install despite the recommendations in the instructions. The device is very much plug and play with no drivers needed. I have got a pair of these attached to my development PC and they are great for storing old project data, iso images, unused virtual hard disk files and pictures. I would not recommend using this to run applications or virtual machines from as the performance is not good enough, but it should help free some static storage from your internal HDD’s.

Stop whining
There’s a running theme when you read reviews about hard drives; there will be at least one person giving it 1 star. And why? Because hard drives fail, that’s life, and to be honest that is probably why you want one in the first place; to back up your files in case your computer hard drive fails. I work with hard drives on a daily basis and I see failers all the time. With a phyiscal medium there is always going to be a certain failure rate, especially consider how many million (or billion) hard drives have been manufactured.

Add to that the fact that a high percentage of people who have bad experiences with a product will write a review, but the majority of people who bought it without a problem will be happily backing up their data oblivious of all the whining reviews.

I bought the My Book as it’s robust, cheap, and as quiet as any other I’ve heard. Oh and it works. And if it stops working, well I’ll get it replaced under warranty.

Characters: More Than Just Mario and Friends
The lifeblood of the Super Smash Bros. series has always been the depth of the character line-up that each instalment has been able to bring and Brawl not only keeps with tradition, but does it one better. Just as in Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros Melee, players can expect to pit their favourite Nintendo characters against each other in head-to-head and multiplayer battles, but instead of insisting on characters exclusively from the Nintendo universe, Brawl adds variety in the form of superstars Sonic the Hedgehog and Solid Snake from Konami’s Metal Gear franchise. This is a first-time addition and one that will delight veteran players and newbies alike. But these two characters are only a sampling of the new additions to the game’s line-up. The Rules of the Brawl
As in previous releases in the series, Brawl places players within a different, but easy to use fighting system. Players choose a character, select one of the numerous stages–which are levels based in the game worlds represented in Super Smash Bros.– and try to knock their opponents off the screen using a range of standard techniques and combos as well as a variety of special attacks and ‘Smash Moves’ specific to their chosen character. A Smash Move can only be performed after securing a ‘Smash Ball.’ These precious items, marked with the Smash Bros. logo, fall randomly and can be used by either player, but they must be cracked open before they can be used. To keep things interesting they can also can be stolen if not used right away, so when a player sees one it must be grabbed quickly and cracked to avoid an unfortunate turn of events.

Also, keeping with the game’s “E” rating and player’s affection for the characters, instead of displaying health bars the game uses a percent system to indicate character status and strength. The more damage done to a character, the higher the percentage and the farther back he/she is knocked back when struck by an opponent.

Many Ways to Play: Multiplayer and Single Player Options
Just as in previous instalments of Super Smash Bros. there is fun to be had whether you choose to fight in multiplayer or single player mode, but Brawl again pushes the envelope even further by providing additional ways to play within these areas and the possibility of others added later. Here are just a few of the modes that you can expect to see:

Multiplayer

• Standard Multiplayer Brawl - A standard battle between 2-4 players.
• Special Brawl – Take down your friends in matches which you can customize with as many rules as you would like.
• Tourney – Choose the number of players and rules you want and have at it in a round-robin battle against many foes.
• Online Multiplayer - For the first time play against registered friends or randomly selected opponents from anyplace in the world via a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

Single Player

• Training – Start on the path to Brawling like a pro as you learn to string standard moves together into combos.
• Classic – Fight your way through semi-randomly generated battles where each match features an arena or opponent from a particular game series and may feature unique battle conditions.
• Stadium: Target Smash - Practice your aim as you break ten targets within a set time limit.
• “Subspace Emissary” - The world of Smash Bros. is invaded by an entity called the Ancient Minister and his army, called “The Primid. As this villain starts turning characters into trophies to harness their power, declare a peace with your quarrelsome companions and work together to defeat the invaders in an engrossing side-scrolling adventure.

Stay in Control
Because the Super Smash Bros. series has a huge following and an even larger list of characters from the Nintendo catalogue, it only makes sense that players may have a preference for a particular Nintendo controller from the era of their favourite game. Because of this the game’s creators have incorporated all four of the major Nintendo controllers into the mix. Whether you prefer the Wii Remote, the Wii Remote with Nunchuck, the Wii Classic Controller or GameCube Controller it makes no difference. All four are fully compatible with all the features of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, although the handling of each is a little different. Choose the one you are most comfortable with, or explore all your options. The choice is yours.

WARNING! READ THIS BEFORE BUYING
I bought this game from another website, and it arrived a day before the release date. Unfortunately, the disc for Brawl uses a dual-layer format which means that if the disc reading lens of your Wii is even slightly dusty, the disc is unreadable and the game is unplayable. This was the case for me, and has been the case for many Japanese and American Wii owners, and you need to buy a lens cleaner to clean the lens if you want to play the game. American gamers have been offered a free lens cleaning service by Nintendo, but I am unsure if this will be offered to European players. So, be warned! This game may not work if your Wii has been exposed to small amounts of dust.

Sorry that this is not really a review, I just feel that people should know this information.

Superb!!!
I got this game about 2 months ago (the US version) and wow! This game has everything you need, if your bored, or just need to smash something! Nintendo have really had a breakthrough with this one! I do not regret getting it a little bit earlier, and it was REALLY worth it. Buy it, you won’t be dissapointed!
